How do I make a booking?

Bookings can be made either by email info@boydcamsite.org.uk or you can find us on OSM, please note if your arrival is within 7 days of you booking you will not be able to do this on OSM

Where are the nearest supermarkets and food shops and can I get a delivery?

Shefford a few minutes away by car has a Morrisons, Co-op and a Tesco Express at the fuel station, along with a chemist. The villages of Clifton and Langford have butcher’s shops and Clifton also has a Tesco Express with cash point. Major supermarkets deliver to Boyd but please ensure all orders contain your group name and an onsite contact number, please wait by HQ for your order at your allocated delivery time.

Is there security onsite?

For your security we have CCTV around the buildings of our site, and if there isn`t a member of the team on site there are emergency contacts on our noticeboards.

Arrival

How do I find Boyd Memorial Scout Campsite and Activity Centre?

We are located on Church Road, Henlow, Beds SG16 6AN. we can be found between the Church and the school

What happens upon arrival?

Unless we have made prior arrangements for you to access the site using the code one of our team will be waiting with a warm welcome and to show you to your camping area, please check in with us at the office.

Will vehicles be allowed access to our campsite/building?

Vehicles are generally not allowed on the field and will only be allowed with prior permission of our team, this will be weather and activity dependent. If you are able to take your vehicle on the field then please use your hazards and adhere to the 10 mph speed limit.

We do have a car park on site, however at peak times this can be busy and parents dropping off may have a five-minute walk. Vehicles that are just dropping off/collecting or visiting for the day are expected to park in a car park and will not be able to drive on to the campsite. Please make sure that all members of your group are aware of this prior to your visit.

We do have limited trolleys available for moving your kit on to site, please return them after use.

Please note, no dogs are permitted on site unless registered assistance dogs, please advise when making your booking

Facilities

What can I buy on site?

We have a tuck shop and providore on site, this is usually open Saturday mornings during our peak season and also at other ad-hoc times and can be opened by request. The shop sells a range of sweets, chocolates, cold drinks, ice lollies, badges and souvenirs.

We accept cash and card

If orders are placed and paid for prior to camp we will arrange for your order to be ready when you arrive on site. Also we can arrange for custom items on request.

On a Tuesday and Thursday evening during term times we have a uniform and badge shop open between 7 and 8.30pm

Do you have washing up sinks?

Yes we have a washing up area, indoors in the building behind the office, There are 3 sinks that you are welcome to use but please leave them in a clean and tidy state

Is the water at Boyd suitable for drinking?

There are taps with drinking water situated throughout the site, the location of these is marked on the map. Please encourage your group to respect the area around the taps and not to leave them running. Water inside the toilet blocks is not suitable for drinking.

Do you have a freezer?

Yes, there is a fridge freezer that can be booked for use through OSM or by email. If you have hired the hall, there is also a fridge-freezer in the kitchen.

Do you have a launderette?

There is a launderette less than ten minutes away by car in Stotfold.

Is there somewhere to charge mobile phones?

Sorry not unless you have hired the HQ building or Holiday Bus where there are limited sockets.

Departure

What do we do when we are ready to leave?

Please ensure that you have checked your site for litter, all ash has been cleared, wood has been returned to the woodpile and rubbish and food waste have been put in the skip. Any final balance must be paid on receipt of invoice which should be emailed within 7 days of your booking. You will Also receive a questionnaire regarding your stay which we would appreciate if you can take the time to fill in so that we can look at improving our site for future bookings.

If you have been supplied with gate number and are last on site please ensure the last leader closes the doors to the WCs and locks the pedestrian gate when leaving site.
