Activities

At Boyd we offer a variety of activities, although not all are available all year round. You can check availability and book using OSM or by dropping us an email at info@boydcampsite.org.uk

Archery – Our archery is suitable for most age groups as we have a number of different size bows as well as right and left handed ones.

Can be self-led if you have a qualified instructor, or a site instructor can be booked for an extra £10 a session

Backwoods cooking – programme box. this box comes with 4 fire baskets and some extendable toasting forks! Just add wood and marshmallows. great as a filler activity or for an evening programme session

Campfires – At Boyd we have a main campfire area with some seating and space to bring your own chair for larger campfire gatherings. We also have a smaller fire area that is known as the Chapel which has a log or two for seating around. Free for groups within our District or staying overnight on site, otherwise there is a small charge

Cavebus – Is a cave system within a bus! The caving tunnels are made out of plywood and are easily accessible with exit doors should someone get stuck. Suitable for the younger sections as taller/wider people may get stuck

Group size 12

Circus Skills – This is another one of our programme boxes suitable as an add on activity or for an evening meeting. It includes unicycles, stilts, juggling items and more

Climbing – Our climbing wall is auto belay with 4 runs, blue, black, red and green of varying difficulties. Suitable for climbers over 1.1m high and up to 18 stone

Group size 12

Garden games – This is a popular programme box for evening meetings. Includes boules, giant Jenga style game, frisbees, balls and more.

Geocaching – Not strictly an on site activity, but we have 6 non official Geocaches within walking distance of the site. You just need to bring your own GPS device or a smart phone and ask for a trail sheet with the co-ordinates on

Mini Crossbows – A great activity for our younger sections. We have 6 mini crossbows that can be used in the hall or outside depending where is available and weather! The sucker darts stick well to the targets to give participants a great chance to practice their aim and we would encourage groups to run the activity like a live shooting range for safety. Self led

Pedal karts – Suitable for all ages as the seats adjust, although little legs may need a push! We don`t currently have a track, but you can easily make a temporary one on a spare area of the site, or just use them for a leisurely tour of the site

Rafting – We have three frames that are ready made, that you just need to lash the barrels to. Groups of 12

Slack lines – We have 2 slack lines, along with blindfolds and ropes so you can also do a blind trail at the same time. Usually these are set up in The Spinney. Self led

Soft Tomahawks – A great introduction to tomahawk throwing for our younger visitors, but just as much fun for the older ones too! We have 4 sets and these can be set up in a suitable space or on the mini range next to the main tomahawks for the true experience. Self led

Soft Archery – Another great introduction activity for all of our visitors. We are able to have 2 different groups using this activity at the same time. These can be set up in a suitable space or on the mini range next to the main tomahawks for the true experience. Self led

Stand up paddle boards – Currently we have 5 SUPs to use in our sessions.

Tomahawks – Come and try out our tomahawk range and thro some angels or hawks

Trim trail – We have a great trim trail for all of our visitors to use. You don`t need to book it, we just ask you are respectful to other groups who may also want to use it

Tree trail – You may notice some of our trees on site have numbers on them, this is because they are part of our tree trail. Differs in difficulty due to the season and also if you have the easier sheet with tree names that you need to match to the number. Trail sheets and answers available on request £1 each
